Medication-Assisted Treatment Β· Dayton, OH

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) in Dayton

Evidence-based care that combines FDA-approved medication with counseling to treat opioid and alcohol addiction — giving you a stronger foundation for lasting recovery.

What medication-assisted treatment is

Evidence-based care that combines proven medication with real human support.

Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) pairs FDA-approved medications with counseling and behavioral therapy. The medication eases cravings and withdrawal so you can focus on recovery, while therapy addresses the roots of addiction.

Decades of research show this combined approach improves outcomes and significantly reduces the risk of overdose. At Miami Valley Recovery, MAT is never medication alone — it’s medication plus the support that makes recovery last.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions

Is medication-assisted treatment just replacing one drug with another?
No. MAT uses FDA-approved medications, at carefully managed doses under medical supervision, to reduce cravings and withdrawal so your brain and body can stabilize. Combined with counseling, it treats the disorder — it doesn’t produce a high, and decades of research show it improves recovery and lowers overdose risk.
How long will I be on medication?
There’s no single answer. Some people benefit from months of treatment, others longer. We revisit your plan with you over time and, when you’re ready, support a gradual, medically guided taper. There’s no rush.
Does Ohio Medicaid cover MAT?
Yes. Miami Valley Recovery accepts all forms of Ohio Medicaid, and many private plans cover MAT as well. We can verify your benefits for you.
Can I still work while receiving MAT?
Yes. Our outpatient program is designed so you can continue working and caring for your family while you receive treatment.
