The first step toward recovery is often the hardest, and a lot of that comes from not knowing what to expect. At Miami Valley Recovery, your first assessment is a relaxed, confidential conversation — not a test, and not a commitment you can’t back out of. Here’s how it works.
Before you arrive
When you call us at 937.401.8672 or request an assessment online, a member of our team will help you set up a time that works. We’ll let you know what to bring — typically a photo ID and your insurance information, if you have it. If you don’t have insurance or aren’t sure about coverage, that’s okay; we accept Ohio Medicaid and most major plans, and we can help you sort it out.
The assessment itself
Your assessment is a private conversation with one of our counselors. We’ll ask about your history, your goals, and what you’re hoping to change. There are no wrong answers, and nothing you say will be met with judgment. The goal is simply to understand your situation so we can build a plan that fits your life.
Building your plan
Based on the assessment, we’ll talk through options that may fit — which could include outpatient counseling, medication-assisted treatment, or Buprenorphine if appropriate. You’re part of every decision. We’ll never push you into anything you’re not comfortable with.
What happens next
If you decide to move forward, we’ll get you scheduled and started. If you need time to think, that’s completely fine too. The door stays open. Recovery works best when you’re ready, and our job is to make that step as easy as possible when you are.
Have questions before your first visit? Call us any time during business hours — we’re happy to talk it through.
